THE BENEFITS OF WEARING A FACE MASK

THE BENEFITS OF WEARING A FACE MASK

Government and health authority information about face coverings has been very confusing since the beginning of the Covid 19 outbreak. In the early stages WHO, CDC and the UK government all agreed that face masks were of no benefit – but without exception it is now agreed that wearing any level of fabric face covering offers protection whilst in public places where it is not easy to observe the recommended social distancing.

For the foreseeable future it is likely that face covering will be the new normal and in certain circumstances wearing them is compulsory, although this is different in all countries.

It is indisputable that wearing a mask reduces the level of droplets that we spray from our mouths when we talk, sneeze or cough, thus protecting against onward viral transmission.

Masks, snoods or any face covering will protect the wearer and the people around them.

There are a lot of fancy masks claiming various levels of protection. What is most important however, is that whatever mask you have is washed regularly and handled correctly so that you do not touch the inside of the mask when removing it.

If a mask is comfortable and breathable it is more likely to be worn and appreciated by the wearer.
